How To Update Apps On An Iphone

Just like iOS updates, it's essential to ensure that third-party apps on your iPhone are also updated. In each new version, the developer fixes bugs, introduces new features, and improves its compatibility and stability with the operating system. Many times, when an application misbehaves or crashes, we advise users to update an app on their device.

Here are two ways to do so. Let's have a look!

  • How to manually update apps on iPhone and iPad
  • Automatically update apps on iPhone and iPad

How to manually update apps on iPhone and iPad

In iOS 13, the 'Updates' tab inside the App Store was taken over by 'Arcade' – Apple's gaming subscription service. But still, the process remains effortless. Here's how.

In iOS 15, 14, and 13

  1. From the iPhone or iPad Home screen or App Library, long-press the App Store icon.
  2. Choose Updates.
  3. Tap Update All or UPDATE next to individual apps.

Long Press on Apps Store Icon and Choose Updates Then Tap on Update All to Update Apps on iPhone

Alternatively, you may also open the App Store and tap your profile picture from the top right. Here, you will see all the available updates.

Open App Store Tap on Profile and Then Tap on Update All to Update iPhone Apps

Notes:

  • To refresh the available app updates' list, pull down the update screen.
  • If you are unable to update, make sure you have enough free space. Also, restart your device and try again. If nothing works, make sure you are signed into the App Store using your Apple ID.

In iOS 12 and earlier

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap Updates from the bottom row.
  3. Tap Update All or UPDATE next to individual apps.
